MARSHWALK
Murrells Inlet straddles US-17 Business and US-17 Bypass at the Horry/Georgetown county line, with the south Grand Strand, the airport and Georgetown all within half an hour.

With a median age of 60 and 55+ enclaves like Woodlake Village and Seasons at Prince Creek West, Murrells Inlet is built for retirement: hospital in town, golf nearby, dinner on the MarshWalk.

Condos and townhomes start well under the ~$452K median, and Horry-side addresses carry a lower county tax rate — so a starter home here keeps the beach seven minutes away.

A long-established vacation-rental market, TPC golf and scarce marsh-front homes give owners both short-term and long-term options, and steady monthly sales show real liquidity.

Murrells Inlet is one of the Grand Strand’s most livable coastal towns, especially for retirees: the median age is about 60, the community has its own hospital on US-17 Bypass, and daily life revolves around the half-mile MarshWalk, Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park. You get salt-marsh scenery and fresh seafood without Myrtle Beach’s crowds, yet the city and airport are both about 20 minutes away. Note that the town straddles Horry and Georgetown counties, which changes school zoning and tax bills.
The median sale price was about $452,000 in August 2026, essentially flat year-over-year, with homes taking around 85 days to sell — a balanced market where homes typically close a little under list. Inventory ranges from condos to marsh-front estates above $1M, with golf neighborhoods like Prince Creek and Wachesaw Plantation in between. New construction is limited to smaller D.R. Horton and Lennar enclaves, so resale drives most of the market.
Murrells Inlet sits about 14 miles south of downtown Myrtle Beach, roughly a 21-minute drive up US-17 Business or the Bypass, and Myrtle Beach International Airport is a similar 21 minutes away. Garden City Beach is just four miles (about seven minutes), Pawleys Island is ten miles south, and historic Georgetown is 22 miles down US-17.
